Here's hoping

Reading: One Day by David Nicholls
Listening to: "God of Wine" by Third Eye Blind
Weather: Summer is here

I've just had a partial request for the first one hundred pages of one of my books. A dream agent is reading it now.

I've had the full manuscript for one of my other books out with another dream agent for just over a month now.

And: I am looking forward to hearing back from these literary wonders about these works.

My better half is probably sick of me talking about it, and probably wishes I would take up a new, saner, quieter hobby. Like stamp collecting maybe. Or growing a kitchen window-ledge full of herbs and spices. Or going through my wardrobes, getting rid of extra pairs of shoes. (However, he is not aware there are no pairs of extra shoes. Just rare occasions that they will be, eventually, worn.)

To all those people who have listened patiently while I harped on about the vagaries of the writing life, who've offered up kind words and little nudges of support, while still giving me room to keep my art my own, who've afforded me the chance to let these shivers in my chest to grow into characters by merely standing back and not laughing, who've reminded me that they (these supporters and friends and family all) are there: thank you.

Here's to another summer full of hope.

Happy Saturday, all!
